UMVIM partners with UMCOR

UMVIM  has partnered with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) to train and equip UMVIM volunteers who want to specialize in serving in disaster recovery ministry. Such trainings include ERT (Early Response Teams), Connecting Neighbors, among others. Wildfire Rebuilding Missions in California-Nevada for 2022

The California Nevada Conference is at two Long Term Recovery/Rebuild sites in Northern California.

The Town of Paradise - The Camp Fire in 2018 was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history. Rebuilding homes by non-profits started in 2021. We are sending teams to assist with homes for those who cannot afford to build themselves. Now is the time to get on the schedule! See below more details.

Long Term Recovery in the PNW:  Okanogan Wildfire Rebuild

The Pacific Northwest Conference is partnering with the Mennonite Disaster Services (MDS) to help rebuild several houses from the 2021 Wildfires in the Okanogan area.  Both experienced and volunteers without experience to serve are welcomed to serve. Volunteers can serve as an individual or on teams on a MDS construction site for one to three weeks. UMVIM volunteers are responsible for arranging for their own transportation to the project base, with lodging and food are provided by MDS.

Volunteers need to arrive at the mission site late Sunday afternoon.  The work week is from Monday through Friday, so volunteers are free to leave on Friday evening or Saturday morning, depending on their travel plans.
